CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS
Get Involved
Since YCCS McKinley Lakeside Leadership Academy believes in students growing, developing and bonding outside of the classroom, there are a variety of activities available for all types of interests. Take a look below to learn more.
CULINARY ARTS
Our outstanding Culinary Arts Program delivers industry-based instruction that allows students to attain certification, prepare for post-secondary education and pursue careers in the hotel and restaurant industry. Students learn complex cooking techniques and key entrepreneurial concepts that can help launch careers as a future top chef.
AUDIO PRODUCTION PROGRAM
The Audio Production program provides student with an introduction into the field of studio-based audio recording and production. The program hones the student’s skills in audio editing and engineering, and applies that skill to the in-studio recording environment. Students learn theory of acoustics, electronics, and audio components, and they learn to record, track, mix, and master music within an audio facility. Importantly, students learn the industry standard audio engineering software and practice that software through the courses in the program. The course also provides instruction on the music and broadcasting industries, and the range of professional opportunity as an audio engineer and music business professional.
STUDENT COUNCIL
Our Student Council consists of a group students working together to provide a means for student expression and assistance in school affairs and activities, give opportunities for student experience in leadership and encourage student/faculty/community relations.
Through projects and activities, student councils work to:
PROMOTE CITIZENSHIP
PROMOTE SCHOLARSHIP

YEARBOOK CLUB
Get Active
Our Yearbook Club designs, promotes, and produces the Yearbook. Students use an online computer program to create pages, and are also primarily responsible for taking the pictures that will end up in the yearbook. The main goals are to capture the atmosphere of MLLA and include every student's picture in the book. The Yearbook Club reinforces writing and social skills. It requires a great deal of writing and time, but it is a positive experience.
CIVIC ENGAGEMENT
Give Back
The Cvic Engagement Project teaches students to become involved in “working to make a difference in the civic life of one's community and developing the combination of knowledge, skills, values and motivation to make that difference. Participation in civic engagement activities help youth become better informed about current events, locally and globally.
